Our Mission

Wexford Opera House is a specifically commissioned state-of-the-art opera house and home to the world-famous Wexford Festival Opera.

Our mission is to develop Wexford Opera House as a progressive cultural centre of excellence in opera, musicals and music-theatre, whilst embracing other ways in which the human voice communicates through music and words. We are committed to research, develop, commission and present new work in opera and musical theatre and nurture community outreach programmes in opera, dance and drama.

This ambition forms part of a wider programme that sees Wexford Opera House open year-round, offering productions of varying scales and art-forms featuring individuals and performing groups of local, national and international origin.
